Our R&D station based in Eyragues (13) is looking for a pre-breeder to join its dynamic team.
What you will do
As a pre breeder you will be responsible for designing and implementing research programs to identify new traits and study their expression, inheritance and molecular basis. Based on this data, you will develop and implement tools to begin introducing these traits into elite lines, and then transfer these protocols to breeders.
A couple of your responsibilities are managing and take part in research projects in close collaboration with teams in Pre-breeding, Pathology, Genetics, Selection, etc.. Participating in the development of new technologies and protocols for high-throughput phenotyping in close collaboration with breeders. Enriching, characterize and develop the genetic resources of your species. Design and carry out plant crosses according to the defined research objectives. Writing reports and presenting results to stakeholders. And at last you will contribute to the continuous improvement of breeding methods.
To fulfil your responsibilities, you will work with teams based in several countries.
What we expect from you
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who have an agricultural engineering degree with initial experience or doctorate in agronomy, genetics or plant physiology.
You have knowledge of data management, bio-statistic, new phenotyping and high-throughput genotyping technologies. Of course you are up to date with new technologies and high-throughput sequencing and genotyping. Next to this you have a strong affinity for fieldwork and analytical tasks. Having experience in plant breeding or improvement is a plus. Our ideal candidate should possess a strong sense of team spirit thriving in a collaborative environment while also being able to work independently when needed. Attention to detail and thoroughness are key qualities, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Lastly, your proficiency in French and English is impeccable.
